President’s Message March 2016

A Progressive Garage Tour?
What was that guy thinking?
We’re all familiar with
progressive dinners and winery
tours, but a progressive garage
tour will be a first. And why not?
This will be a fun way to get ideas
for your own space while visiting
with your Club friends amongst a covey of fine Porsches. On Saturday,
March 12th, three members will graciously open their garage doors for fellow
members to visit. Please see the article in this month’s newsletter for
details.
Also on the March agenda is an open house at JML Audio where members
can learn about modifications and improvements to their Porsche’s
sound systems, navigation, cameras, etc. At the end of the month, Porsche
St. Louis will host a tech session for PCA members. Details are in this
month’s Plauderei.
The 2016 schedule for the Columbia members is now listed on the calendar.
A couple of events the first half of this year which I highly recommend
for all to consider is the annual member appreciation lunch and tech session
on May 7th and a casual get together and automotive art show at Dave
and Barb Danusers on May 29th. Details are forthcoming, and both events
will be well worth the trip.
On April 2nd, I will be attending the annual Zone 10 Presidents meeting in
Des Moines, IA. This is a 2 day event to help us learn how to best manage
our Club. I am looking forward to meeting out new Zone Rep and the other
Region presidents, and sharing ideas about each other’s Regions.
After a bland and slow winter, our 2016 events are coming up soon. See
you there!

Presidents Message February 2016

What was your first PCA event you attended? Mine was at Lodge of the Four Seasons at Lake of the Ozarks. A weekend event was planned with the Kansas City Region and the Ozark Lakes Region from Springfield, MO. On my drive down from Columbia on Saturday morning, I considered turning around at least three times. I had no idea what to expect and was going to be way out of my comfort zone. I forged on and was glad I did. Right from the start, I was welcomed with genuine friendliness. Just in time for lunch, I was seated at the VIP table with the Region Presidents. We enjoyed great conversation and shared our stories of Porsche ownership. Afterwards, I was paired up with a rep from Aristocrat Porsche in a new Boxster S for a gimmick rally. My familiarity with the Lake area was considered an asset so off we went. As navigator, I watched for answers to the gimmick questions while following the route directions. It was challenging and we made some mistakes, but we had a great time.
A new event we’re organizing is a Progressive Garage Tour scheduled for Saturday, March 12. As noted in the Plauderei, we are asking for members who would like to open their garages for other Club members to visit. If you have a garage space that you are particularly proud of, please let me know so we can include it in our tour. We’re not looking for museums, just nice spaces where you store or work on your Porsche. We will meet at the first member’s garage to tour and socialize, then caravan to the others in order, much like a progressive dinner. More details to follow.
If you have an interesting story to share about your first PCA event or have a nice garage space for the Garage Tour, please contact me at maddya@missouri.edu.
