Presidents Message October 2016

In November, you’ll have a chance to enjoy some of the best driving roads in America by attending PCA Palooza in historic Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The 3 day event will take place Nov. 10 – 13 and includes scenic and spirited driving tours through the beautiful Ozark mountains of northwest Arkansas. There will be a welcome party, tech sessions, a casual car show and a Saturday banquet. The picturesque Victorian town of Eureka Springs is a draw for artists and crafts people, and you’ll have time to explore the town’s many shops and excellent restaurants. Driving tour destinations will include trips to wineries, parks, the War Eagle mill, and the famous Crystal Bridges Museum of American art. http://crystalbridges.org/. Crystal Bridges is a must see facility located on 120 wooded acres constructed above a natural spring. In 2010, legendary Porsche factory race car driver Vic Elford was a VIP guest and speaker at Palooza. I met Vic during the afternoon car show and asked if he would be so kind as to autograph my Cayman. “Why sure!’ was his friendly response. As I opened the hood of my Cayman, the adjacent group of Cayman owners saw what was going on and like dominoes, they all opened the hoods of their cars. Being the gentleman that he is, Vic went down the row and signed his name under the hood of each Cayman. I don’t expect Vic to be back this year, but the event will be a fun getaway.
PCA Palooza is held at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks

This location fills up quickly, but there are numerous other nearby hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, and cottages. Let me know if you plan to attend so Kim and I can watch for you. Registration for PCA Palooza can be found at http://pca-palooza.com.
If you’re not signed up for the Porsche St. Louis  Fall HPDE at Gateway Motorsports Park on Oct. 7 – 9, you’re still welcome to come to the track and soak in the atmosphere. Perhaps it will convince you to bring your Porsche to the track next Spring. There’s also an overnight trip to Lake of the Ozarks on Oct. 15 – 16, and our annual Fall Color Tour to Hermann on Oct. 22. More details are in this month’s Plauderei.
