Greetings St. Louis Region!
As we flip our calendars to November turn our clocks back an hour, and start wearing our winter coats and hats, we all know that we are rapidly approaching the end of this year’s driving season. I was just thinking back to the events from earlier this year. It’s been a rather strange year, particularly for our normally very social club that hasn’t been able to be as social. Due to the pandemic, protests, and some bad weather, we weren’t able to safely host many of our usual club events. I am also sad to say that the club recently decided not to go forward with this year’s St. Louis Holiday Party in December (A decision has not yet been made on the Columbia Party.) The current data trends show that COVID cases are on the rise. Also, a majority of members told us that they weren’t willing or interested in attending this year’s St. Louis party due to the current conditions. So, we’ll try again next year.
Fortunately, we have been able to safely hold several driving tours and HPDEs this year. In October, club members organized both the sold-out Porsche St. Louis Fall HPDE and the popular, annual Fall Color Tour drive. I hope you were able to partici-pate in either or both. If not, hopefully you were among the many who had a chance to go on your own drives, enjoying the twisty roads in the area, in your awesome cars.
The November calendar is looking light. We will be holding our Board meeting virtually. The CPG Dinner and Hayride have been cancelled due to COVID concerns. The decision on the Bonfire is dependent on changes in the virus restrictions and on the questionable weather of the season so the final decision will be made soon and communicated.
As we wind down for the year, swapping summer for winter tires or hibernating our Porsches, the club will soon be holding the annual election for next year’s Board. If you are interested in learning about possibly joining the Board, please e-mail me or any of our Nominating Committee members (Steve Warren, Bob Tamsky, and Morgan Howard), and we’d be happy to answer any questions.
Until next month, stay safe, stay warm, and happy motoring!
